Here’s what I’ve been reading today:
Gaming:
- Outlast has a map of your brain, and it knows how to make you scream – It is a game I’ll never play, but I’m fascinated by modern horror games + look forward to watching some “lets play” videos of people getting terrified playing it…
- Oculus Rift at retail: The road to a $300 price point, secret features, and the threshold of success – This iteration of modern VR is spawning some interesting experimentation, e.g. vr movie theaters – looking forward to it being productized. I’ll probably get one just to play Eve Valkyrie.
- $10.5 million for charity: The Humble Origin Bundle made me despise some of the most vocal gamers – The gaming community can be particularly juvenile. Nice to see journalists calling it out.
Other:
- Cow Tipping: Fake or Really Fake? – A good link to keep handy next time the topic comes up. Nothing I wasn’t already aware of, so could probably have skipped reading it.
- Corporate Personhood: Why It’s Awesome – The law around “Corporate Personhood” is very interesting and nuanced and not easily reduced.
- Straight Up – A brief history of how Johnnie Walker grew to be such a global brand. Interesting aspect is the ceremonial role it has taken on and positioning in the the developing world. Feel like I want to apply some value judgement here, but it is hard to unpack the complex web at work.
